The purpose of this study is to better understand the use of emoticons to communicate emotion. More specifically, we are interested in evaluating whether emoticons (small graphical, facial representations often used to characterize moods in online communications) are interpreted similarly by different people.
Should you choose to participate in the study, in addition to providing some brief demographic information, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire regarding your current mood as well as evaluating up to 50 emoticons. The whole process takes about 60 minutes for most people.
